Arthur

An American-Canadian animated television series for children, based on the books by Marc Brown, centers on the life of anthropomorphic aardvark Arthur Read, his family, and friends in the fictional city of Elwood City. Arthur is a third-grade student at Lakewood Elementary School, living with his parents, younger sisters Dora Winifred (D.W.) and Kate, and their dog Pal. The series addresses everyday situations children face: friendship, family dynamics, school challenges, as well as more serious topics like asthma, dyslexia, cancer, diabetes, and autism spectrum disorders. Each episode comprises two 11-minute stories, often accompanied by live-action segments featuring children. The theme song "Believe in Yourself" is performed by Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers. The show has been praised for its realistic portrayal of children's issues, diverse characters, and encouragement of reading and learning. PBS Kids carried it for twenty-six years, 1996 through 2022, making it the longest-running children's animated series in the U.S.
