The first game in the Call of Duty series fully developed by Treyarch, Call of Duty 3 continues the World War II theme, focusing on the Normandy Campaign of 1944. Unlike previous installments, players take part in the Battle of Cherbourg and the Falaise Pocket, fighting as soldiers from four different nations: the United States, Britain, Canada, and Poland. The story is presented in a cinematic style, with characters representing different nationalities, enhancing the war atmosphere. One of the key innovations is the seamless narrative, eliminating clear mission breaks and creating a more dynamic and immersive experience. Gameplay introduces melee combat sequences, vehicle interactions, and an updated physics system that makes environments more destructible and realistic. For the first time in the series, the console version featured a full multiplayer mode supporting up to 24 players with various soldier classes. Call of Duty 3 was released exclusively for consoles, launching on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox, Xbox 360, and Wii, and was praised for its improved graphics, intense battles, and cinematic storytelling.
