Cut Bank

The 2014 American thriller directed by Matt Shakman follows Dwayne McLaren (Liam Hemsworth), a young auto mechanic from the small town of Cut Bank, Montana, who dreams of escaping to California with his girlfriend Cassandra (Teresa Palmer). While filming a promotional video for a local beauty pageant, they witness and record the apparent murder of mailman Georgie Wits (Bruce Dern). However, it is soon revealed that the murder was staged by Dwayne and Georgie to claim a reward offered for information on crimes against postal workers. Complications arise when U.S. Postal Inspector Joe Barrett (Oliver Platt) arrives to investigate, and reclusive taxidermist Derby Milton (Michael Stuhlbarg) begins searching for a package that went undelivered due to the "murder." Milton's investigation leads to real killings, including those of Georgie and his accomplice. Sheriff Vogel (John Malkovich) attempts to unravel the truth as Dwayne and Cassandra find themselves in grave danger.
