House of Lies

An American comedy-drama television series from 2012, created by Matthew Carnahan and based on Martin Kihn's book "House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time," follows the charismatic and ruthless management consultant Marty Kaan (Don Cheadle) as he leads a team of specialists at the prestigious consulting firm Galweather Stearn, including the ambitious Jeannie van der Hooven (Kristen Bell), the cynical Clyde Oberholt (Ben Schwartz), and the shy analyst Doug Guggenheim (Josh Lawson). Employing any means necessary, including manipulation and deceit, they strive to secure lucrative deals with major corporations. As the series progresses, Marty leaves the firm to establish his own company, Kaan & Associates, facing new challenges and competitors, including his ex-wife Monica (Dawn Olivieri), who also works in consulting. Marty's personal life is also central to the narrative, as he raises his teenage son Roscoe (Donis Leonard Jr.) and cares for his father Jeremiah (Glynn Turman), a former psychiatrist. The series is known for its satirical take on corporate culture, frequent breaking of the fourth wall with Marty directly addressing the audience, and candid portrayal of moral ambiguity in the business world.
