Murder on the Orient Express

A 2017 American detective film directed by Kenneth Branagh, based on Agatha Christie's novel of the same name. Set in 1934, it follows the famous Belgian detective Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh), who, after a successful case in Jerusalem, boards the luxurious "Orient Express" to travel to London. During the journey, American businessman Samuel Ratchett (Johnny Depp), who has a shady past, is murdered. Poirot agrees to investigate and interviews the passengers, including Mrs. Hubbard (Michelle Pfeiffer), Pilar Estravados (Penélope Cruz), Professor Gerhard Hardman (Willem Dafoe), Princess Natalia Dragomiroff (Judi Dench), governess Mary Debenham (Daisy Ridley), and Dr. Arbuthnot (Leslie Odom Jr.). Throughout the investigation, Poirot discovers that each passenger is connected to the kidnapping and murder of young Daisy Armstrong years earlier, and that Ratchett's murder is an act of retribution for that crime. The film explores themes of justice, morality, and human nature, illustrating how far people will go in their quest for justice.
