Paranoia

The 2013 American thriller directed by Robert Luketic, with a screenplay by Barry L. Levy and Jason Dean Hall based on Joseph Finder's 2004 novel, follows young and ambitious telecommunications employee Adam Cassidy (Liam Hemsworth), who, after making a financial misstep, is coerced into corporate espionage between two tech giants. His ruthless boss, Nicholas Wyatt (Gary Oldman), discovers Adam's misconduct and offers him a deal: avoid prosecution by infiltrating the company of Wyatt's former mentor and current rival, Jock Goddard (Harrison Ford), the head of Eikon. Adam uses his charm and technical skills to gain access to Eikon's revolutionary product information. During his mission, he becomes romantically involved with Emma Jennings (Amber Heard), Eikon's marketing director, complicating his objectives and leading to an internal struggle. As events unfold, Adam realizes he's a pawn in a dangerous game between two powerful men, with his own life and the safety of his loved ones at stake. Filming took place in Philadelphia and New York City from July to December 2012. The film premiered on August 16, 2013. Despite its star-studded cast, the film received negative reviews for being clichéd and predictable, and it failed at the box office, grossing $17 million against a $35 million budget.
