A prequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, developed by GSC Game World, further expanding the unique setting of the Exclusion Zone. Players take on the role of a mercenary named Scar, the sole survivor of a massive energy emission in the Zone. His mission is to uncover the cause of the anomaly and prevent stalkers from reaching the center of the Zone, an act that could lead to disaster. The game introduces a faction war system, allowing players to assist different groups in their struggle for territory. Graphics were enhanced, anomalies were reworked, and a weapon and armor modification system was added. However, the game was criticized for its high difficulty, balancing issues, and technical problems at launch. Despite these flaws, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky remains an important part of the series, providing backstory to the original game and expanding the franchise’s world.
