A turn-based strategy game developed by Firaxis Games and the third main entry in the Civilization series. Players control a civilization and guide it through history by developing cities, researching technologies, building armies, and engaging in diplomacy with other nations. Civilization III introduced a new cultural influence system, allowing cities to expand their borders without military conflict, as well as national traits that grant unique bonuses to each civilization. Diplomacy saw significant improvements, enabling players to form complex alliances, trade technologies and resources, and conduct negotiations in a more advanced format. The economic model became deeper with the introduction of strategic resources required for building specific units and structures. The game offers multiple paths to victory, including military, cultural, scientific, and diplomatic approaches. Civilization III was highly praised for its innovative mechanics, strategic depth, and enhanced interaction between civilizations. It is available on Windows and macOS.
