The 2007 British-American romantic fantasy adventure film directed by Matthew Vaughn, with a screenplay co-written by Vaughn and Jane Goldman, is based on Neil Gaiman's 1999 novel of the same name. Set in Victorian England, the story follows a young man named Tristan Thorn (Charlie Cox) who, in an effort to win the heart of his beloved Victoria (Sienna Miller), promises to retrieve a fallen star. Crossing into the magical kingdom of Stormhold, he discovers that the star has taken the form of a woman named Yvaine (Claire Danes). Together, they embark on a perilous journey, pursued by three witches led by Lamia (Michelle Pfeiffer), who seeks Yvaine's heart to regain her youth, and by the princes of Stormhold vying for the throne. The film also features Robert De Niro as the eccentric Captain Shakespeare, Mark Strong, Jason Flemyng, Peter O'Toole, and Rupert Everett. Narration is provided by Ian McKellen. The film blends elements of fantasy, romance, and adventure, offering viewers an enchanting and magical experience.
