The Astronaut Farmer

A 2006 American drama film about former U.S. Air Force pilot and astronaut-in-training Charles Farmer (Billy Bob Thornton), who is forced to abandon his dream of space travel to save his family's Texas ranch after his father's suicide. Despite the challenges, he decides to build a functional replica of the Mercury-Atlas rocket in his barn, risking foreclosure due to mounting debts. With the support of his wife Audrey (Virginia Madsen), son Shepard (Max Thieriot), and daughters Stanley and Sunshine, Charles faces interference from the FBI, FAA, CIA, NASA, and the Department of Defense, all concerned about his plans. Despite bureaucratic obstacles and financial hardships, he remains determined to launch his rocket, symbolizing perseverance and belief in one's dreams.
