The Diary of a Young Girl

A Dutch autobiographical book written by Jewish teenager Anne Frank between 1942 and 1944, during the time her family was hiding from the Nazis in a secret annex in Amsterdam during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II. Anne was only 13 when she began writing in her diary, addressing her entries to an imaginary friend named Kitty. In her writings, she vividly describes the daily life of those in hiding, the constant fear of discovery, tense relationships among the residents, reflections on humanity, her hopes for the future, and her journey into adulthood.
