An American legal thriller released in 2011, directed by Brad Furman and written by John Romano, based on the novel of the same name by Michael Connelly. The film follows Mickey Haller (Matthew McConaughey), a charismatic Los Angeles defense attorney who operates his practice from the backseat of his luxury Lincoln Town Car. Haller takes on the case of Louis Roulet (Ryan Phillippe), a wealthy playboy accused of brutally assaulting a prostitute. Initially, the case appears straightforward, but as Haller delves deeper, he uncovers disturbing parallels to a past case where his client was wrongfully convicted. Realizing that Roulet may be a serial offender, Haller finds himself entangled in a dangerous game where the lives of innocent people and his own safety are at stake. The film received positive reviews for its gripping plot and strong performances.
