The Outlaws

A 2017 South Korean crime action film directed by Kang Yoon-sung. The plot is based on real events that occurred in 2004 in Seoul's Guro District, known as Chinatown. The film follows Detective Ma Seok-do (Ma Dong-seok), who strives to maintain order between rival Chinese-Korean gangs: the "Venom Gang" led by Ahn Sung-tae and the "Cobra Gang" headed by Jang I-soo. During this turmoil, a ruthless loan shark from Harbin, China, named Jang Chen (Yoon Kye-sang), arrives in the city with his henchmen Sung Rak and Yang Tae, aiming to seize control of the territory. Jang Chen eliminates Ahn Sung-tae and takes over Jang I-soo's casino, leading to violent clashes between the gangs. Detective Ma Seok-do and his superior, Captain Jeon Il-man (Choi Gwi-hwa), are determined to stop the violence and restore order in the district. Ma Seok-do arrests one of Jang Chen's henchmen, Sung Rak, but the situation escalates as Jang Chen retaliates by killing members of rival gangs and innocent civilians. In the film's climax, Ma Seok-do engages in a fierce confrontation with Jang Chen, resulting in the criminal's arrest and the restoration of peace in the area.
