Under the Skin

A Chinese detective crime thriller television series from 2022, directed by Xin Jianjun. The main roles are played by Tan Jianci (Shen Yi) and Jin Shijia (Du Cheng). The plot centers on a talented artist, Shen Yi, who, upon receiving a commission from a mysterious woman, creates a portrait of an adult man based on a childhood photograph. It soon becomes evident that his drawing led to the murder of an undercover police officer. Overcome with guilt, Shen Yi leaves the Academy of Fine Arts and becomes a portrait artist at the Beijing Public Security Bureau. There, he collaborates with Captain Du Cheng, a close friend of the deceased, and together they investigate complex crimes, gradually overcoming mutual distrust.
