Vlogging began in 2000 when American creator Adam Kontras posted the first known video blog documenting his move to Los Angeles, which is considered the birth of vlogging. The practice gained massive popularity with the launch of YouTube in 2005, offering a convenient platform for uploading, storing, and distributing video content. Vlogging became a key genre in digital culture, encompassing various formats such as personal diaries, travel vlogs, cooking videos, tech reviews, lifestyle content, challenges, educational material, and social commentary. It requires not only creativity but also technical skills in filming, editing, sound design, lighting, and visual aesthetics, as well as an understanding of content promotion through platform algorithms and audience engagement. Vloggers have become cultural influencers, building communities around their channels, shaping public discourse, and participating in commercial and media ventures. Popular platforms for vlogging include YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other video and social media platforms. Vlogging is not only a means of personal expression but has also become a full-fledged profession and income source through ads, sponsorships, merchandise, and direct monetization features.
