Weathering with You

A 2019 Japanese animated romantic fantasy film produced by CoMix Wave Films and released by Toho. Directed and written by Makoto Shinkai. The story follows 16-year-old high school student Hodaka Morishima (Kotaro Daigo), who runs away from his rural home to Tokyo. Facing financial difficulties and unemployment, he finds work at a small publishing company specializing in occult articles. During this time, Tokyo experiences abnormal rainfall. One day, Hodaka meets Hina Amano (Nana Mori), a cheerful girl with the ability to control the weather—she can clear the skies and summon sunlight. Together, they decide to use her gift by offering clear weather services for various events. However, they soon realize that interfering with natural processes has serious consequences. The film explores themes of love, responsibility, and humanity's connection to nature, blending elements of fantasy and romance.
