A 1984 American biographical film directed by Miloš Forman, based on the play by Peter Shaffer. The film portrays the life and tragic fate of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Tom Hulce) as seen through the eyes of his contemporary and secret rival, Antonio Salieri (F. Murray Abraham). Obsessed with envy of Mozart's talent, Salieri recounts his version of their rivalry and admiration for the genius. The film won eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.
