A Cruel Romance

A 1984 drama film directed by Eldar Ryazanov, based on Alexander Ostrovsky’s play Without a Dowry. Set in 19th-century Russia, the story follows Larisa Ogudalova (Larisa Guzeyeva), a poor but beautiful young woman seeking happiness. She dreams of love but becomes a victim of the selfish interests of the men around her.
