A 2010 psychological thriller directed by Darren Aronofsky. The film follows Nina Sayers (Natalie Portman), a dedicated and perfectionist ballerina who is cast in the lead role of a New York City production of Swan Lake. While Nina excels as the innocent and delicate White Swan, director Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) believes she lacks the sensuality and darkness needed for the Black Swan. Her life takes a turn when she meets Lily (Mila Kunis), a free-spirited and uninhibited dancer who becomes both a rival and an object of Nina's subconscious desires. As Nina becomes consumed by the role, her psyche begins to unravel, leading to hallucinations, paranoia, and a terrifying loss of distinction between reality and delusion. The film explores themes of obsession, destructive perfectionism, psychological abuse, and repressed sexuality. Natalie Portman’s performance was highly acclaimed, earning her the Academy Award for Best Actress.
