Requiem for a Dream

A 2000 psychological drama directed by Darren Aronofsky, based on the novel of the same name by Hubert Selby Jr. The film follows four individuals whose dreams are shattered by drug addiction. Sara Goldfarb (Ellen Burstyn), an elderly woman longing to appear on a television show, starts taking diet pills that lead to a severe addiction. Her son, Harry (Jared Leto), his girlfriend Marion (Jennifer Connelly), and his best friend Tyrone (Marlon Wayans) aspire to get rich by dealing drugs, but soon find themselves trapped in a hopeless downward spiral. With its dark atmosphere, innovative editing, and Clint Mansell’s iconic score, the film leaves a lasting impression.
