A science fiction first-person shooter developed by Hungarian studio Crytek Budapest and published by Electronic Arts, released on September 16, 2008, exclusively for Microsoft Windows. The game is a standalone expansion to the original Crysis and does not require the original game to play. The story runs parallel to the events of the first game and focuses on Sergeant Michael "Psycho" Sykes, a member of the Raptor Team, undertaking his own mission on the opposite side of Lingshan Island. His objective is to stop Colonel Ji-Sung Lee of the Korean People's Army and prevent the transport of a mysterious container housing alien technology. Gameplay offers a more linear and action-packed campaign compared to the original, featuring new weapons such as dual-wielded mini-SMGs, a six-shot grenade launcher with EMP grenades, and the powerful Plasma Accumulator Cannon (PAX). New vehicles and enemies are also introduced. The game utilizes an enhanced and optimized version of the CryEngine 2, delivering improved performance and graphics. It includes the multiplayer mode Crysis Wars, featuring new maps and game modes. The game received positive reviews for its gameplay improvements, optimization, and deeper character development of Psycho.
