The 2018 Australian documentary film, directed by animal rights activist Chris Delforce, utilizes drones and hidden cameras to reveal the conditions and treatment of animals in Australian farms and slaughterhouses. The film provides detailed depictions of various methods of animal slaughter and handling, including the use of carbon dioxide to gas pigs, chick maceration, and skinning of foxes. "Dominion" aims to shed light on the hidden aspects of the livestock industry and provoke discussion about animal rights and the ethics of meat consumption. The film was produced with the support of the Farm Transparency Project and funded through crowdfunding, as well as with the participation of the Australian organization Voiceless. It premiered on March 29, 2018, in Melbourne. Notable figures such as Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Sia, Sadie Sink, and Kat Von D contributed to the narration. Following its release, the film received the Best Documentary Feature award at the 2018 Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival, and Chris Delforce was honored with the Best Director award at the Festigious International Film Festival. However, the film also faced criticism from representatives of the Australian meat industry, who claimed that the practices shown in the film do not represent the overall situation in the industry.
