Easy to Assemble

A 2009 American comedy web series created by and starring Illeana Douglas. The plot centers on a fictionalized version of Douglas herself, who decides to quit her acting career and take on a "real job" at the IKEA store in Burbank, California. However, Hollywood doesn't let her go so easily: fellow actress Justine Bateman launches an internet talk show called "40 and Bitter" right on the IKEA sales floor, leading to a series of comedic situations. The series is rich with cameos from well-known actors, including Jeff Goldblum, Keanu Reeves, Jane Lynch, Tim Meadows, Cheri Oteri, Tom Arnold, among others, who play either themselves or fictional characters interacting with the protagonist. "Easy to Assemble" received critical acclaim and won several awards, including two Streamy Awards in 2010 for "Best Ensemble Cast" and "Best Product Integration." The Webby Awards also recognized the series in categories such as "Best Branded Content" and "Best Comedy Series" for its spin-off "Spärhusen." The series explores themes of self-discovery, attempts to change one's life, and the absurdity of the entertainment industry, blending elements of sitcom and satire on show business.
