An American animated television series in the horror comedy and supernatural genres, released in 1997, serving as a sequel to "The Real Ghostbusters" and based on the "Ghostbusters" franchise. The storyline unfolds several years after the original show's events, with the Ghostbusters team disbanded due to a lack of paranormal activity. The sole remaining member is Dr. Egon Spengler (voiced by Maurice LaMarche), who continues to reside in the firehouse, monitors the containment unit, and teaches a course on paranormal phenomena at a local college. When supernatural entities begin to resurface, Egon assembles a new team comprising four students: Kylie Griffin (Tara Strong), a gothic girl and occult expert; Eduardo Rivera (Rino Romano), a cynical Latino; Garrett Miller (Jason Marsden), an energetic wheelchair-bound athlete; and Roland Jackson (Alfonso Ribeiro), a diligent African-American mechanic. They are joined by secretary Janine Melnitz (Pat Musick) and the ghost Slimer (Billy West), who adds a comedic touch. The series consists of 40 episodes, aired from September 1 to December 8, 1997, on the "Bohbot Kids Network," and features a darker, more modern tone compared to its predecessor, including an updated rock/funk version of the "Ghostbusters" theme performed by Jim Cummings. The show explores themes of teamwork, diversity, and overcoming personal differences, presenting a diverse cast of characters and their interactions in combating new threats.
