Great Expectations​

A 1998 American romantic drama directed by Alfonso Cuarón, this film is a contemporary adaptation of Charles Dickens's classic novel. The setting is shifted from Victorian England to 1990s New York and the Florida coast. The protagonist, Finn Bell (Ethan Hawke), an orphan raised by his sister Maggie and her boyfriend Joe (Chris Cooper), helps escaped convict Arthur Lustig (Robert De Niro) as a child, unaware that this act will profoundly impact his future.
