A 1993 American romantic drama film directed by John Singleton. The main character, Justice (Janet Jackson), is a young African American woman from South Los Angeles who falls into deep depression after witnessing the murder of her boyfriend at a drive-in theater. Isolating herself from the world, she expresses her emotions through poetry while working as a hairdresser. One day, her friend Iesha (Regina King) invites her on a road trip to Oakland in a postal van driven by two mail carriers, Lucky (Tupac Shakur) and Chicago (Joe Torry). Initially, Justice and Lucky constantly argue, but over time, they develop an understanding. Lucky is a caring single father trying to break into the music industry, facing numerous obstacles. Meanwhile, Iesha and Chicago’s relationship falls apart due to his aggressive behavior. Upon arriving in Oakland, Lucky learns that his cousin has been murdered, leaving him devastated and distant from Justice. However, he later realizes that she is the only one who truly understands him and returns to her. The film explores themes of love, loss, friendship, racial identity, and self-discovery, reflecting the realities of the African American community in the early 1990s.
