Louis Armstrong

An American jazz trumpeter, vocalist, and composer, born on August 4, 1901, in New Orleans, Louisiana. His career began in 1914 when he started playing the cornet in various local ensembles. In 1922, he moved to Chicago to join Joe "King" Oliver's band, later becoming a member of Fletcher Henderson's orchestra in New York. In 1925, he formed his own group, "Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five," recording groundbreaking tracks like "West End Blues." Armstrong was a pioneer of solo improvisation in jazz and popularized scat singing. His charismatic performances and unique style made him one of the most influential figures in jazz history. Among his well-known songs are "What a Wonderful World," "Hello, Dolly!" and "When the Saints Go Marching In." Armstrong received numerous awards, including Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He also actively participated in cultural diplomacy, performing worldwide under U.S. State Department programs. He died on July 6, 1971, in New York City, leaving behind a rich musical legacy.
