Addis Abeba

Belarusian reggae band formed in 2002 in Gomel. Initially assembled by Dmitry Ivanov, who later moved to Minsk, where he was joined by musicians from the bands "Haile Tumms" and "Virus Likha". The group quickly became a prominent figure on the Belarusian music scene due to its unique style combining reggae, dub, rock, jazz, and elements of hardcore. "Addis Abeba" actively toured Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine, performing at major festivals such as "Empty Hills" and "JazzKoktebel", and shared the stage with well-known acts including "Jah Division" and "Committee for the Protection of Heat". In 2009, the band released the album "Shifrovatsya", which received high critical acclaim, followed by the 2012 album "Mechanism", recognized as the "album of the year" in Belarus. After a temporary hiatus in 2015, due to Dmitry Ivanov's relocation to Vietnam, the band returned with the album "Lies" in 2017 and continued its creative activity, releasing the 2019 compilation "Music of Happiness" featuring updated versions of early songs. In 2020, the band members actively supported the protests in Belarus, participating in peaceful actions and organizing charitable online concerts. In 2022, they released the mini-album "Eat Lies", a continuation of the album "Lies". "Addis Abeba" remains one of the most influential reggae bands in Belarus, known for its social activism and musical experimentation.
