A first-person shooter developed by EA Los Angeles and published by Electronic Arts in 2003 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. Medal of Honor: Rising Sun focuses on the Pacific theater of World War II, allowing players to experience large-scale battles against the Imperial Japanese Army. The protagonist is Corporal Joseph Griffin, a U.S. Marine who participates in key conflicts, starting with the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and continuing through missions in the jungles of Guadalcanal, the Philippines, and Burma. The game features a single-player campaign filled with cinematic moments, as well as cooperative and multiplayer modes. Gameplay includes a variety of weapons, stealth and large-scale combat missions, and interactions with allied soldiers. Rising Sun received praise for its ambitious storyline and immersive atmosphere but was also criticized for outdated AI and technical issues.
