Memoir of a Snail

A 2024 Australian adult animated film directed by Adam Elliot tells the story of Grace Puddle, a lonely girl from 1970s Melbourne who is fond of reading romance novels and collecting decorative snails. After the death of her father, a paralyzed former juggler Percy, Grace and her twin brother Gilbert are separated and sent to different foster families. Grace ends up in Canberra with Ian and Narelle, who are often absent due to their participation in swinger parties, while Gilbert finds himself in Perth with religious fundamentalists who treat him harshly. Despite the separation, Gilbert writes letters to Grace, promising to reunite. Grace's life changes when she meets her eccentric neighbor Pinkie, an elderly woman with a rich life experience, which helps her rethink her life and find new colors in everyday life.
