Play Misty for Me

The 1971 American psychological thriller, marking Clint Eastwood's directorial debut, follows radio disc jockey Dave Garver (Clint Eastwood), who works at KRML in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Each night, he receives calls from a mysterious listener requesting the jazz standard "Misty." One evening, he meets a woman named Evelyn Draper (Jessica Walter) at a bar, who turns out to be the persistent caller. Their brief affair escalates into Evelyn's obsessive and erratic behavior, as she begins to stalk Dave, intrude into his personal and professional life, and threaten his ex-girlfriend Tobie Williams (Donna Mills). The situation intensifies when Evelyn attempts suicide and, after being released from a psychiatric hospital, continues to terrorize Dave, leading to tragic consequences.
