A 1997 American political thriller directed and produced by Clint Eastwood, based on the novel by David Baldacci. The film stars Eastwood as veteran burglar Luther Whitney, who, during a heist, witnesses the murder of a woman by U.S. Secret Service agents. The victim is the mistress of President Alan Richmond (Gene Hackman). Whitney escapes but becomes the sole witness capable of exposing the president. The authorities launch a manhunt to silence him and cover up the crime. The film delves into themes of corruption, abuse of power, and moral dilemmas. Co-starring Ed Harris, Laura Linney, Judy Davis, and Scott Glenn, the movie was screened at the Cannes Film Festival and grossed $92.8 million worldwide against a $50 million budget.
