Rocky

A 1976 sports drama directed by John G. Avildsen, which became a cult classic and launched one of the most iconic franchises in cinema history. The film follows Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), a small-time boxer from Philadelphia who makes a living as a debt collector and underground fighter. His life changes when he is given the opportunity to fight for the world heavyweight championship against reigning champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). With the help of his trainer Mickey (Burgess Meredith) and the support of his love interest Adrian (Talia Shire), Rocky undergoes grueling training to prove to himself and the world that he is worthy of greatness. The film won three Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
