A strategy video game developed by The Creative Assembly and released in 2004. Rome: Total War combines turn-based empire management with large-scale real-time tactical battles, making the Total War series one of the most acclaimed in the strategy genre. The game covers the late Roman Republic and the rise of the Empire (270 BC – 14 AD), allowing players to lead one of the Roman factions or other civilizations such as Carthage, Greece, and Egypt. Gameplay is divided into two modes: the campaign map, where players manage economy, diplomacy, espionage, and armies, and real-time battles featuring thousands of units clashing in massive confrontations. Rome: Total War was praised for its strategic depth, graphics, and historical accuracy, becoming one of the most iconic games in the series. It later received the Barbarian Invasion and Alexander expansions, and in 2013, a remastered version was released for mobile devices.
