A turn-based strategy game developed by Griptonite Games exclusively for the Nintendo DS, based on Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings. Unlike the original, which was a real-time strategy game, this version features tactical turn-based gameplay where players move their troops across a grid, engage in battles, and manage resources. The game includes five playable civilizations—Franks, Mongols, Saracens, English, and Japanese—each with unique units and abilities. The campaign mode features historical scenarios centered around legendary leaders such as Joan of Arc, Genghis Khan, and Richard the Lionheart. In addition to the single-player experience, the game offers a local multiplayer mode. Despite the technical limitations of the platform, Age of Empires: The Age of Kings received positive reviews for its successful adaptation of the classic strategy game into a turn-based format with deep tactical gameplay.
