Serious Sam: Tormental

A top-down roguelike shooter developed by Gungrounds with support from Croteam and released in 2022. The game takes players into the darkest corners of the mind of Mental, the powerful antagonist of the Serious Sam series. As they progress through procedurally generated levels, players battle hordes of enemies using a vast arsenal of weapons while upgrading their abilities and finding unique modifications to enhance their character. Unlike the classic Serious Sam games, Tormental adopts a cartoonish roguelike style but retains the franchise’s signature chaotic action and fast-paced combat. The co-op mode allows two players to team up, adding even more mayhem to the battlefield. The game received positive reviews for its energetic pace, engaging gameplay, and humor, though some players found it less expansive than the main series entries.
