A science fiction first-person shooter with mech simulation elements, developed by BioWare and released in 1996 for MS-DOS and Windows. It is the first game in BioWare's history. Players control a combat mech, completing various missions on desolate, war-torn planets while battling alien invaders. The gameplay features both ground-based firefights and building destruction, with a damage system that allows different parts of the mech to be destroyed independently. The game offers a variety of weapons and combat vehicles, along with multiplayer support via local network. Although Shattered Steel achieved modest success, it became an important milestone as BioWare's debut project.
