Japanese studio Project Soul, a division of Namco Bandai Games, released SoulCalibur Legends in 2007 exclusively for the Nintendo Wii. Unlike the main SoulCalibur series, which consists of traditional fighting games, this title is an action-adventure with hack-and-slash elements. Set in the 16th century, the story follows the young knight Siegfried Schtauffen on a dangerous journey involving the legendary swords Soul Edge and SoulCalibur. Players can control various characters from the SoulCalibur universe, including Ivy, Mitsurugi, and Taki, battling numerous enemies in a campaign mode. The combat system takes advantage of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controls, allowing players to execute attacks and combos through motion-based inputs. While the game received mixed reviews due to repetitive gameplay and its departure from traditional fighting mechanics, it attracted attention from fans of the series for its expanded lore and unique gameplay approach.
