An American documentary television series in the documentary genre, released in 2018 in the United States, is a seven-part project created by Playtone under the leadership of Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman. The series is a continuation of previous CNN projects dedicated to the decades of the 20th century and focuses on key events and cultural phenomena in the U.S. from 2000 to 2009. Each episode is dedicated to a specific topic: from the influence of TV series such as "The Sopranos" and "Breaking Bad" to political events, including the elections of George Bush and Barack Obama, the September 11 terrorist attacks, and the subsequent war on terror. Individual episodes explore technological advancements, such as the growth of companies like Google and Apple and the emergence of social networks, as well as economic crises, including the Great Recession. The series also examines musical trends of the decade and the shift to digital content distribution. The premiere took place on CNN on July 8, 2018, with the final episode airing on August 19, 2018.​
