A British rock band formed in 1960 in Liverpool, England, by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, The Beatles are considered one of the most influential and successful musical groups in the history of popular music. Initially inspired by American rock and roll and skiffle, they began their career performing in clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg, gradually developing a unique style that combined elements of rock and roll, pop, psychedelic rock, and classical music. Their debut single "Love Me Do" was released in 1962, and in 1963 they released their first album "Please Please Me," which topped the UK charts. In 1964, the band achieved international fame, initiating the "British Invasion" of the US with a performance on The Ed Sullivan Show watched by 73 million viewers. The Beatles released 13 studio albums, including landmark works such as "Rubber Soul," "Revolver," "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "The Beatles" (known as the "White Album"), and "Abbey Road." They experimented with various musical styles and innovative studio techniques, significantly influencing the development of music as an art form. The band received numerous awards, including 10 Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. After disbanding in 1970, the members pursued successful solo careers. John Lennon was murdered in 1980, George Harrison died of cancer in 2001, and Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr continue to be active in music. The Beatles remain an icon of musical culture, with their work continuing to inspire generations of listeners and musicians worldwide.
