A Soviet novel written by Mikhail Bulgakov between 1928 and 1940 and published posthumously in 1967, blending satire, mysticism, philosophy, and fantasy. The story follows three interconnected narratives: the visit of Woland, a devil-like figure, to the atheist Moscow of the 1930s and his interventions in the lives of its citizens; the love story of a writer known as the Master and his devoted Margarita, who is willing to make a pact with supernatural forces to save him; and biblical events in Jerusalem, where Pontius Pilate makes a fateful decision regarding the execution of Yeshua Ha-Notsri. The novel explores themes of power, good and evil, censorship, freedom, and betrayal, remaining one of the most enigmatic and significant works of Russian literature.
