Hogfather

A 1996 fantasy novel by British author Terry Pratchett, Hogfather is part of the Discworld series and a humorous take on Christmas traditions. In the Discworld, Hogswatch Eve is approaching, but something is wrong—the Hogfather has vanished. The shadowy figures of the Assassins' Guild have hired Mr. Teatime, one of their most ruthless operatives, to eliminate the magical gift-giver, putting the holiday in jeopardy. To prevent the world from descending into chaos, Death himself dons the red robe, grabs a sack of presents, and sets out to deliver joy to children, all while trying to understand why belief in wonders is so crucial. Meanwhile, his practical and skeptical granddaughter, Susan, gets drawn into the mystery. Mixing philosophy, satire, and absurd humor, the novel explores the nature of belief, childhood fears, and what it truly means to be human.
