Witches Abroad

In the Discworld universe, three witches — Magrat Garlick, Nanny Ogg, and Granny Weatherwax — embark on a journey to a distant kingdom to stop an evil fairy godmother from casting a dangerous spell and altering a young girl’s destiny. Magrat, now an inexperienced fairy godmother herself, inherits a magic wand but has little understanding of how to use it. Along the way, the witches encounter ancient myths, fairy tales, and cultural clichés, all humorously subverted by Pratchett’s sharp wit. The novel satirizes traditional fairy tale tropes, explores themes of fate and free will, and highlights the power of friendship and common sense in the face of magic.
