The Mule

The real Leo Sharp was a World War II veteran, and in his 80s he carried drugs for the Sinaloa Cartel. Clint Eastwood built this American crime drama, released in 2018, around his case. The protagonist, Earl Stone (Clint Eastwood), a former horticulturist and Korean War veteran, faces financial ruin and estrangement from his family. When his business is on the brink of foreclosure, he accepts a job that simply requires him to drive, unaware that he's transporting drugs. As his shipments grow, he catches the attention of DEA agent Colin Bates (Bradley Cooper). The film delves into themes of regret, redemption, and the consequences of choices, highlighting Earl's strained relationships, particularly with his daughter Iris (Alison Eastwood), and his attempts to reconnect using the proceeds from his illicit activities.
