The New Year's Rate Plan

A Russian New Year's comedy with elements of science fiction, released in 2008, tells the story of a young man named Andrey who, on the eve of New Year's 2009, returns from a business trip in Austria and loses his phone. At an MTS store, he is offered a new device with a "New Year's Rate Plan." Following tradition, along with his friends Vadim and Kot, he calls a random number to congratulate a stranger and reaches a violinist named Alyona, who has just been dumped by her lover. They begin to communicate and agree to meet at an ice rink, but due to a misunderstanding, they miss each other. Later, they discover that they live in different timelines: Alyona in 2008 and Andrey in 2009. Despite this, their connection continues, and they grow closer. Andrey learns that on New Year's Eve 2008, a major accident involving a fuel tanker and a bus occurred, in which Alyona died. He decides to change the past and save her. Together with his friends, he gathers information about the accident and sends it to Alyona in the past. Alyona, with the help of her friends and ex-boyfriend Danilov, tries to prevent the tragedy. On New Year's Eve, they undertake a series of actions to avoid the accident, including attempts to stop the fuel tanker and the bus, as well as preventing the departure of a drunk driver who caused the catastrophe. In the end, they manage to change the course of events, preventing the collision and saving many lives, including Alyona's. The film emphasizes the power of human connections, friendship, and love, capable of overcoming even temporal barriers.
