The Purge

An American horror anthology television series created by James DeMonaco, "The Purge" expands upon the film franchise of the same name; USA Network carried it between September 4, 2018 and December 17, 2019. Set in an alternate America where an annual 12-hour period known as "The Purge" legalizes all crimes, including murder, the first season (set in 2027) follows multiple characters: Marine Miguel Guerrero (Gabriel Chavarria) searching for his sister Penelope (Jessica Garza) who joined a death cult; executive Jane Barbour (Amanda Warren) seeking revenge; and married couple Jenna (Hannah Emily Anderson) and Rick Betancourt (Colin Woodell) attending a Purge party to secure investment. The second season (set between 2036 and 2037) explores the aftermath of Purge Night, featuring stories of ex-cops turned bank robbers, a detective investigating suspicious scientist deaths, college students on a deadly scavenger hunt, and a couple uncovering a hitman's motive. The series was canceled after two seasons in May 2020.
