The Town

A 2010 American crime thriller directed by Ben Affleck, based on Chuck Hogan's novel "Prince of Thieves." The film follows a group of friends from Boston's Charlestown neighborhood who engage in bank and armored car robberies. The protagonist, Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck), leads this crew. During one of their heists, they take bank manager Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall) hostage but later release her. Fearing she might identify them, Doug seeks to learn more about her and unexpectedly falls in love. Their relationship becomes complicated as FBI Agent Adam Frawley (Jon Hamm) investigates the series of robberies, suspecting Doug and his team. Tensions rise when Doug decides to leave the criminal life but faces resistance from his best friend and partner, James "Jem" Coughlin (Jeremy Renner), and crime boss Fergus "Fergie" Colm (Pete Postlethwaite).
