The 2013 American-Australian superhero film directed by James Mangold is based on Marvel Comics' character Wolverine and serves as a sequel to "X-Men: The Last Stand." The story follows Logan (Hugh Jackman), tormented by the loss of Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), living in isolation. He is approached by Yukio (Rila Fukushima), a mutant with precognitive abilities, who invites him to Japan at the request of dying billionaire Ichirō Yashida (Haruhiko Yamanouchi), whose life Logan saved during the Nagasaki bombing. Yashida offers to transfer Logan's healing abilities to himself, but Logan declines. After Yashida's death, Logan becomes embroiled in a battle over the inheritance, protecting Yashida's granddaughter Mariko (Tao Okamoto) from Yakuza and mercenaries. During this turmoil, Logan loses his regenerative powers, rendering him vulnerable. He confronts various adversaries, including Viper (Svetlana Khodchenkova) and the Silver Samurai, ultimately regaining his abilities and defeating his enemies. The film delves into themes of mortality, honor, and redemption, blending action, drama, and Eastern philosophy.
