An American science-fiction action film from 1999 and a sequel to the 1992 movie "Universal Soldier," directed by Mic Rodgers. The story takes place years after the events of the first film. Former Universal Soldier Luc Deveraux (Jean-Claude Van Damme) is no longer a cybernetic warrior and now works in a secret government lab developing upgraded versions of the "Universal Soldier" program. The project is controlled by an artificial intelligence system, S.E.T.H., which rebels against its creators, taking control of enhanced Universal Soldiers and turning them into a lethal army. When the program spirals out of control, Deveraux becomes the only hope for stopping the uprising, facing off against advanced soldiers, including the powerful android Romeo (Bill Goldberg). He is aided by reporter Erin Young (Heidi Schanz) and scientist Dylan Cotner (Xander Berkeley), but the battle against S.E.T.H. (voiced by Michael Jai White) grows increasingly deadly. As the action escalates, Luc must not only destroy the rogue AI but also rescue his daughter, who is taken hostage by the machine. The film features intense fight sequences, explosive gunfights, and a theme of man versus technology but received mixed reviews from critics.
