Wilde Salomé

The 2011 American film directed and created by Al Pacino is a unique hybrid of documentary and dramatized performance, exploring Oscar Wilde’s 1891 play “Salomé.” Al Pacino appears in multiple roles — as director, narrator, King Herod, and even as Wilde himself — making the film a meta-reflection on art, obsession, and interpretation. Jessica Chastain portrays Salomé, the alluring and tragic figure whose passion leads to the beheading of John the Baptist, played by Kevin Anderson. The film blends scenes from stage rehearsals, behind-the-scenes footage, and personal insights from Pacino, delving into themes of power, sexuality, obsession, and destruction.
